Glad Scientists Book Groups began in Sea Cliff, New York shortly after the beginning of the 21st century. All are welcome who are interested in reading “hard science” books and discussing them in an open, respectful manner. “Hard Science” here means books on physics, chemistry, mathematics, quantitative biology and medicine. Books may include biographies of people in those fields.
Discussions may drift to religious and/or political implications, but any member can call a halt to such discussion if he or she becomes uncomfortable. Meetings are not held July or August.
Members have in the past organized dinners together, and outings to relevant events such as dramas like “Proof”, “Breaking the Code”, the opera “Dr. Atomic”, etc.
